Mysuru: An elderly, whose last wish was to die in her native village remained unfulfilled, thanks to the lengthy discharge procedure of the hospital where she battled for life.

Sharadamma (70) is the deceased. A resident of Halasoge village of K R Nagar, Sharadamma was diagnosed with cancer. She was admitted to KR Hospital and over the last one week she had stopped responding to the treatment.

Meanwhile, understanding her condition very well, she urged the doctors to let her go so that she could die peacefully in her village.

Accordingly, the doctors had given her a discharge on Saturday at about 12 noon. However, the hospital nurses and billing staff took over four hours to complete the discharge formalities and Sharadamma could not wait that long.

While Madegowda, 65, younger brother of Sharadamma remained to be a mute spectator to all of these unfortunate events could not do much to fulfill his sister’s last wish.

When the discharge procedures were done, Sharadamma had slipped into eternal sleep on the hospital wheelchair.

“If at all, on special consideration, the hospital staff had let us go faster, my sister would have had embarked on this journey peacefully from her native village,” said Madegowda fighting back tears.
