Hunsur: Hundreds of devotees joined the rescheduled Hanuma Jayanthi celebrations in the town with Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha leading the procession on January 27.

All arrangements were in place for taking out the Hanuma Jayanthi procession on a revised route in Hunsur town today. Pratap Simha brought the Hanuma idols to the venue in Ranganatha Extension at 11 AM in the company of local legislator Manjunatha and former minister/MP Vishwanath. Most saffron activists, especially youth joined the procession in the revised route from Ranganatha Extension to Manjunatha temple.

The procession, which was originally scheduled for December 3, was cancelled over a dispute between officials and supporters of Pratap Simha, MP, on the route of the procession which was later resolved at a meeting.

Elected representatives were not allowed to travel in special vehicles nor deliver speeches during the festivities.

The town witnessed heavy police presence with CCTV cameras placed at strategic points along the procession route.

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep and Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channanavar were closely monitoring the security situation.
