In a new wave of trainee terminations, Infosys—co-founded by Narayana Murthy—has dismissed an additional 195 individuals from its Mysuru training facility. The reason cited is continued underperformance and failure in internal evaluations.
As per an internal email seen by the publication, trainees were informed that they did not meet the minimum benchmarks in the ‘Generic Foundation Training Program’. This came despite multiple chances, dedicated doubt-clearing sessions, extra preparation time, and three attempts at clearing the assessments. Consequently, they are no longer eligible to continue in the apprenticeship program.
This marks the fourth such dismissal phase by the IT major this year. Earlier, Infosys let go of 300 trainees in February, 35 in March, and 240 more on April 18. With the current round, nearly 800 trainees have been released since February 2025.
To support affected individuals, Infosys is providing free access to upskilling courses through platforms like NIIT and UpGrad. So far, about 250 of those dismissed have enrolled for these courses, and approximately 150 have signed up for job placement services.
Additionally, Infosys is offering an alternative career path via its 12-week Infosys BPM training programme. Those not interested in continuing with the company will be given travel allowances and transportation to Bengaluru or their hometowns.
While the Karnataka Labour Department had previously investigated similar complaints, it concluded that labour laws do not apply in these cases, as the individuals involved were trainees, not formal employees.
