Amit Kumar Sinha from Dehradun in Uttarkhand and Mir Salman from Bengaluru are the arrested. Police have recovered Rs 12 lakhs cash, a mobile phone and a laptop from the fraudsters.

The duo used to put up fake advertisements in their website promising aspiring students medical seats in prestigious colleges in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

An aspirant named Ganesh from Tamil Nadu lured by the online offer had given an advance of Rs 35 lakhs for the promised medical seat.

The duo then called him for the interview at the Mysuru JSS Medical college campus and faked an office inside the campus with a fake Dean, an assistant and fake college management and also had a deal.

Ganesh grew suspicious about the deal and complained to the Narasimharaja police. Police immediately took the duo into custody and during interrogation they revealed that they had earlier cheated many medical seat aspirants in Dharwad, Davangere, Mysuru in Karnataka and Nasik, Ahmadnagar and Lony in Maharashtra.
