Mysuru: CM Siddaramaiah’s efforts to persuade Excise Minister Sathish Jarakiholi have been in vain.
Earlier Jarkiholi had submitted his resignation from the Cabinet, however CM and other leaders were of a view to sort this matter with a thorough discussion.
Never the less a defiant Jarkiholi on Friday morning did not give heed and reportedly refused to meet Siddharamaiah for conciliatory talks.
With Jarkiholi remaining adamant, MLAs from Belagavi are likely to meet the CM at his official residence Krishna at 7.30 pm on Friday to chalk out future course of action on the issue which has aroused much curiosity among party leaders, who believed that Jarakiholi could be convinced to remain in the Cabinet.
It is reported that Jarkiholi has demanded allocation of an additional charge (preferably Social Welfare Ministry) of a major portfolio as a prerequisite for his withdrawing the resignation.
Meanwhile, the CM, who was in Tumakuru, told reporters that there was no rift in the State Congress and added that the resignation of Jarakiholi will not have any adverse effect.
