Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that he is ready to appoint dalit archaks in temples across Karnataka.

Recently Dalit priests were appointed to temples in Kerala and speaking along these lines in Mysuru, on Sunday the CM said that the same can be emulated in the Karnataka as well.

Lashing out at former Congress leader Shrinivas Prasad, the CM said, “arch rivals have become friends. The tactics of political leaders cannot change public opinion. I believe in people not the leaders. I will not comment on Shrinivas Prasad’s statements. He was defeated in the by-elections. People of Chamundeshwari constituency supported us and I am hopeful of winning the next elections too.”

The BJP is holding a Parivarthana rally, but they are dividing the society. They do not speak for women and distressed farmers. They are against social justice, he alleged.

Providing clarification on BSY’s allegations of money from Mysuru Minerals being misused, the CM said, “Yeddurappa does not have basic knowledge about finance. The government has used money from Mysuru Minerals which belongs to the government which will be returned in the next budget. It is a common practice. Nothing wrong in using the money during emergency.”

The CM also lashed out at BJP leaders for politicising the rain-affliction in Bengaluru. “Our government has taken several immediate steps with regards to rain havoc in Bengaluru. The previous governments never worked on issues related to potholes and drainage system. I am living in Bengaluru since 1983 and I have not witnessed such heavy rains. In the last 60 days, the city has witnessed heavy rains for almost 45 days. The storm-water drains could not contain the heavy downpour, and mishaps have occured in some of the low-lying areas. We have taken action immediately in this regard.”
