Mysuru: Karthik Kate, a promising wrestler from Danvangere won the Dasara Kanteerava title in the state level Dasara wrestling competition held at Devaraj Urs Wrestling Stadium on September 26. Dasara Kesari, Dasara Kumara and Dasara Kishore were won by Satish Padathare from Mudhol, Siddanna Patil from Belgaum and Srinivas from Davangere respectively.
Apart from cash prizes and attractive trophies, Karthik Kate took home a silver maze weighing 1.25 kg while Satish, Siddanna and Srinivas took home silver mazes weighing 1 kg, 0.75 kg and 0.5 kg respectively.
In the keenly contested finals for Dasara Kanteera title which is the top title in the state level Dasara wrestling competition, Karthik Kate defeated compatriot Shiva Prasad Koth of Bagalkot. During the regular 30-minute bout, the match ended in a draw and it was decided through technical point where Kate scored 4 points and his opponent Shiva Prasad Koth managed to secure 1.
