Chikkamagaluru: People from 60 villages in 11 gram panchayats in the command area of Karagada water project here have decided to boycott the GP polls.
The villagers did not allow anyone to file nominations for the polls, for which Monday was the last day.
The villagers came to this decision following the government’s failure to complete the Karagada water project even after two decades since it was started.
The project did not take off due to insufficient grants and obstacles such as land acquisition and blasting of rocks.
