Kodagu: MLA M. P. Appachu Ranjan performed the ‘bhoomi pooja’ for the construction of a cement road in the premises of Junior College here on Friday March 10.
Speaking after performing the Bhoomi Pooja for the works taken up from the Municipal Fund at a cost of around Rs 4.90 Lakh, the MLA said that around Rs. 40 Crore has been released for various development works in Madikeri City and various development works are going on at a rapid pace, he said.
Appachu Ranjan informed that a ‘nameplate’ is being installed in all wards of Madikeri City at a cost of Rs 4.90 Lakh from the Municipal Corporation Fund.
MLA said that LED street lights are being installed in all wards of the Municipal Corporation at a cost of around Rs. 11.84 Lakh under the 15th Finance Commission grant for the year 2022-23.
Appachu Ranjan said that the construction of a decentralised Waste Manure Treatment Plant in Madikeri Municipal Corporation limits has been initiated.
The MLA said that various development works being taken up in Madikeri Municipal Corporation limits will be completed before the Assembly election dates are announced and added that emphasis has been laid on the development of Madikeri City and the Municipal Chairman, Vice-President, Standing Committees Chairman and members of the respective wards and officials have paid attention to the work.
MCC President Anitha Poovaiah, Vice-President Savita Rakesh, Standing Committee Chairman Umesh Subramani, Municipal Commissioner Vijay, Principal Vijay, Corporator Vijay and others were present.
