Kodagu: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, “Kodagu is our national pride, and BJP Government has worked hard for the overall development of the District.”
He was inaugurating various development works of the Central and State Governments at Gandhi Ground in Madikeri and said “We have released a package of Rs.100 Crore for the natural development of Kodagu District.
“Rs. 10 Crore for the development of Kodava community, and Rs 7 Crore has been given to Kodava Samaja in Bengaluru, he said and added Kodagu is the pride of Karnataka. Kodagu is now internationally recognised as a Tourism District. For this our Government has created circuit tourism including Mysuru. As a result, Kodagu has been included in the international map,” he said.
“Kodagu is a District that has given valiant soldiers for the Country. For this, we have planned to give health education and a house to the soldiers for their selfless service for the Country, which will be given from this year itself,” he said.
“Central Government and State Government have contributed more funds to the incessant rains in Kodagu, landslides in the past, during the tenure of Former Chief Minister B. S. Yeddiurappa. He has responded to the sufferings of the people here. We have increased the crop compensation from Rs. 3 Lakh to Rs. 5 Lakh. A total of Rs. 132 Crore crop compensation has been disbursed to Kodagu District including irrigation and horticulture. For the development of women, through Sri Shakti Yojana and Vivekananda Yojana, we have provided Rs. 5 Lakh for production and marketing.
