Madikeri: A BJP worker lost his life in Valnoor village of Kushalanagar taluk, Kodagu district, after a car reportedly ran over him while he was busy in an election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on Friday. Police have registered a case under IPC Section 302 against three individuals and have arrested one in connection with the accident.
The BJP leaders and supporters are staging a protest outside Kodagu police station. Kodagu SP confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the accused under IPC Section 302(murder).
Following the death of the BJP worker, the police have imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 to maintain law and order in Siddapur town, Valnoor, Arekadu, Nellihudikeri, and surrounding areas until 10 p.m. today.
