Kodagu: A Shirastedar attached to Kushalanagara Taluk office was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50000 on Wednesday January 19.
It is said that Nanda Belliappa, a coffee grower at Andagove village approached Shirastedar D. T. Vinod Kumar to get work done for his two acres of coffee estate. The officer demanded Rs. 14.5 lakh for the work.
Followed by Nanda’s complaint, ACB officials laid a trap under leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sadananda Tippannanavar.
On Wednesday when Vinod was receiving bribe of Rs. 50000 in a canteen beside the office, the ACB officials caught him red-handed.
A case has been registered against the accused and he has been produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Further, investigation is on.
