Mysuru: A team of experts led by the President from Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) visited the fire site to collect samples and find the reasons behind the death of a teenage boy on April 16.
The team led by KSPCB President Lakshman and environment expert Raghuram dug the ground up to a depth of 6 feet and collected samples of the soil for testing.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakshman said gaseous substance test for the presence of Methane, Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide have been carried out and circumstantial evidence suggests dumping fly ash or coal based ash at the site.
The chemical samples collected will be matched with the effluents from the industries located in the area. About 20 industries have come under the scanner of the KSPCB and the guilty involved in dumping chemical waste at the site which claimed teenager’s life will face stringent action, Laksman said.
A team of experts from the Department of Geology had carried out inspections at the site earlier in the private land in Shadahalli village limits.
