Leaky Classrooms Welcome Students on School Reopening Day in Nanjangud
Nanjangud: Even as government schools across Karnataka celebrated reopening day, the Government Junior Primary School in Chikkavalande village paints a grim picture. The school building is in a dilapidated state, with leaking roofs, broken tiles, damaged doors and windows, and cracked walls.
More than 40 children attend this school, where three classrooms flood during rain, forcing students to sit in water-soaked rooms, fearing for their safety.
Despite repeated appeals, authorities and local representatives have failed to take action. Villagers claim that multiple complaints have been lodged highlighting the urgent need for repairs and demanding the construction of a new building, but they have received no response.
Frustrated by the lack of attention to their children’s safety, villagers have now issued a stern warning — if repairs are not carried out immediately, they will not send their children to the school.
