Madikeri: The National Skill Development Corporation’s (NSDC) “Skill on Wheels” programme, which seeks to provide information and guidance to budding entrepreneurs and employment-seekers, will complement the talent an individual possesses, said Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananth Kumar Hegde.
Addressing a youth convention on skill development at Crystal Hall here on February 26, Hegde said, “Over 2 crore students pass out every year from different streams and the scheme will ensure that those with talent are placed suitably.”
The aspiration of modern youth is different from their individual academic excellence when they pass out and the scheme will bridge this gap by facilitating skill development in the areas including new generation technology. Government will act as facilitator, where industry experts will impart training, clarified Hegde.
“We have to broaden our perspective and aim to conquer Everest and in such a scenario, “skill on wheels” will enable the aspirants to identify their individual strength and assist in achieving their goal, explained Hegde.
Quoting Napolean, the minister said youth talent and skills had to complement for India to become a superpower but reminded all the gathered that there was no substitute for hard work.
Under Pradan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, skill development centres are being set up at all district headquarters in the country and the personal vision is to touch every village, said Hegde. Once successful, each skilled individual will be in a position to offer jobs for those in need to eradicate unemployment, explained Hegde
