Siddapur: An engineering student during spare time strums the guitar to strike a chord with government school children by conducting music training sessions free of cost. Moved by his musical prowess, attentive children from lower strata of society are trying to grasp the nuances of music in quick time.
Anil Nanaiah has been conducting music sessions for government school children in Abhyathmanagala village of Somwarpet taluk every Saturday over the last two years. Children from labour families are paying extra attention while performing well in both scholastic and non-scholastic areas of learning.
Appreciating Anil Nanaiah’s selfless gesture, School Headmistress Daisy said learning music (guitar) during the early years of learning opens a new avenue for children for a better future.
Reacting on Anil’s music sessions, teacher Ashraf said it had also increased the attendance levels in school and inspired many children to learn something new and different while improving their own singing skills.
“Children show immense interest in learning guitar and sing along during every session and their willingness to learn western music amazes me most,” says Anil Nanaiah summarising his individual experience. Anil finds time to take part in cultural events of various schools in the vicinity to motivate children in learning western music.
