Conglomeration of academies in ‘Sangama Sangrama – 2016’ from Dec 7

Madikeri: Cultural harmony will be on display in a special program titled ‘Sangama Sambhrama – 2016’ at Field Marshal Cariappa college grounds starting December 7. The program is being co-hosted by State department of Kannada and Culture in association with different state language and cultural academies.
Kodava literature academy president B S Thammiah, Arebashe Cultural and Literature Academy president Kolya Girish and Registrar of academies Umarabba listed the programs of the 2-day event.

Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu Dr.Richard Vincent D’Souza will flag off the cultural procession at 10 am on December 7, where folk teams from different academies will take part. The main program will be inaugurated at FMC college campus by the State minister for Kannada and culture, special children and senior citizens Umashree. Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan will preside over the program.

District in-charge minister M R Seetharam will declare open the film and art exhibition. The book exhibition will be declared open by State minister of forests Ramanath Rai, whereas the cultural exhibition of Kodava and Arebashe academies will be inaugurated by Kodagu ZP president B A Harish.

BJP Lok Sabha member from Mysuru Pratap Simha, MLA K G Bopaiah, MLCs Sunil Subramani and Veena Achaiah and recipient of Devaraj Urs award B A Mohideen are likely to attend the program as chief guests. Secretary, department of Kannada and Culture and Kodagu Zilla Panchayath CEO Charlulatha Somal will be present on the occasion.

On December 8th morning, session on language communication will take place where books and CDs of all academies will be dedicated to mark the occasion.

FMC College Principal Dr Ammatanda Parvathy Appaiah and Retired lecturer of Gonikoppa Cauvery College Dr P A Susheela will be present at this program where noted writer Dr Banjagere Prakash will preside over.

Karnataka’s Beary Academy, Konkani Sahitya Academy, Tulu Academy, Sangeetha Nritya Academy and National Poet Kanakadasa Research Centre are going to present various cultural programs in the afternoon. Different cultural teams will present wide variety of dance, folk, drama and other cultural programs showcasing the richness of each language and region in the afternoon.

The valedictory function will be presided over by senior poet Subraya Chokkady where former minister M C Nanaiah, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Dr. Byrappa, District Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad, Silk board chairman T P Ramesh and Karnataka Forest Development board Vice president Padmini Ponnappa will be chief guests.

Presidents of all participating academies and several other dignitaries are likely to participate in the concluding program.
