Five new Covid Cases: DC orders action against offenders from Neighbouring states

Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal has instructed the authorities to immediately lodge a complaint with the local police if they find people entering from neighboring states with fake Covid-19 certificates in the district.

She presided over the 4th round of the pre-coordination committee meeting of the Covid-19 vaccine task force on Monday, March 15 at the DC’s Office. She said, “Five new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the district on Monday, March 15. Among which 4 cases were confirmed by RTPCR and 1 case by Rapid Antigen test.”

She informed that 1 new Covid-19 case was found in Madikeri and it was confirmed by the Rapid Antigen test. There were 4 new Covid-19 cases in Somavarapete Of these, 4 cases were confirmed by RTPCR testing, she noted.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the district was 6254 and 6136 have been cured. There were 36 active cases and 82 deaths reported. The number of containment zones in the district is 33,” said District Commissioner Charulata Somal.

She also directed the authorities to take action under the Disaster Management Act against those in the primary and secondary contacts with patients and refuse to cooperate.

She instructed the concerned authorities to submit a report on how many Covid-19 vaccines have been tested in the district and regarding the achievement of the Covid vaccine as against the target set for the district. More attention should be paid to tourist destinations. Social distancing must be maintained in public places, she said. She instructed the authorities to penalize everyone in public places for not wearing a mask as per government instruction.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. K Mohan, RCH Officer Dr. Gopinath, and Community Health Department Associate Professor Dr. SH Mahesh provided information at the meeting.

District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anand, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department Ningaraju, Deputy Director of Public Education Department Machado, Tahsildar Mahesh, Taluk Medical Officers, and others were present.
