Four arrested for temple burglary in Madikeri

Madikeri: The police arrested four persons for breaking into the Shri Anjaneya Temple in the city on July 21.

The arrested have been identified as Suresh from Suntikoppa, Subhash from Kerala’s Kanhangad, Suresh Narayan from Hunsur and Kumar from Dodda Magge in Hassan.

Police said that the accused had broken the lock and plundered the cash in the donation box. Later they stole a bike parked in front of Vandam Enterprises nearby and made away with the loot. The police, investigating the complaint filed by the chief officer of the temple S S Sampath, traced the culprits based on the CCTV footage captured at Vandam Enterprises.

Police also recovered the stolen cash amounting to Rs 32,000 and the getaway bike. The accused have been previously booked in criminal cases and imprisoned for several years, said police officials.
