Loads of relief materials denied to Kodagu flood affected

Madikeri: After the landslide mayhem, relief materials from across the state and country are pouring in but ironically the people at relief camps have not received it on a timely basis.

A victim of the calamity named Vaman Naik, who hails from Monnangeri village of Kodagu district, had lost his land and is now residing in the Zilla Panchayat relief camp here. Deeply saddened by the distribution of relief materials, Naik says that not even a piece of the mat had been received. Speaking to the reporters he said, “I sleep on a mat shared with me by another victim.”

“Not a piece of cloth or rug is been provided”, he said. With a heavy heart, he said, “There is no respect for the prompt and honest efforts put in by the district collector.” An uncommon scene he noticed is that, after the visit to the rehabilitation centre by the DC, the central officers and staff tend to neglect the affected. Naik also said that the food provided was also of low standards.
