Madikeri: Now that the Kodagu has seen a respite in the rainfalls and landslides, life is slowly moving back to normalcy in the district. Every cloud has a silver lining and good things do come out of terrible situations.

Manjula and Rajish, a couple in Madikeri, were supposed to have gotten married today at the girl’s hometown in Makkandur. Unfortunately, Makkandur was devastated in the recent landslides in the Kodagu district. Manjula’s family lost their house and belongings in the disaster and they were living in one of the relief camps. Seeing that there was no upside to the situation, Manjula’s parents decided to cancel the wedding.

Things started to look more positive for the couple when fate smiled upon them and their story spread like wildfire. Soon, people started to come forward to offer support and help to the couple and their families. The Seva Bharati and Lions Club Madikeri joined hands and helped organise the couple’s wedding today at the Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri, where their wedding was celebrated with pomp and glory.
