Madikeri: Madikeri witnessed hailstones along with rain on Friday.
Locals were left amazed at the numbers of hailstones that were found on roads, coffee estates, coconut and areca plantations, roof and garden area of the houses. Children were found playing with them.
The hailstones are formed when drops of water freeze together in the cold upper regions of thunderstorm clouds.
However, hailstone fall can physically damage the crops in large areas and has destructive effects on farms.
