Madikeri: A massive silent procession and an all religion prayer will be held on Monday, May 6, in Madikeri to spread a message of peace against the increasing terrorism, intolerance and violence against women in the country.
Speaking at a press conference at Patrika Bhavan in Madikeri, convener of the event K T Baby Mathew and heads of various social organisations said that today, in the name of politics, people are becoming racially and communally intolerant and killing each other. Religious fanatics are blowing themselves up to kill thousands of innocent people and this has brought a sense of fear among the peace loving people all over the world.
“Violence and terrorism are not the solutions for any problem. Problems can only be solved by peace talks. In a bid to spread a message of peace against terrorism and intolerance and also as a tribute to the martyrs of the Lankan terror attack, a massive silent procession will be held from the Indira Gandhi Circle to Gandhi Maidan, on Monday, May 6 at 5 PM,” said Baby Mathew.
“Religious leaders and priests of different communities will participate in the silent procession. A prayer for world peace will also be held after the procession at Gandhi Maidan,” added Mathew.
Kodagu District Jamath Union President G H Mohammad Hanif, AHINDA District President T M Maddaiah, District Convener of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi H L Diwakar, Roman Catholic Association General Secretary Johnson Pinto and social worker Babu Chandra Ullagaddi were present in the press meet.
