Madikeri: As part of the Maha Shivaratri Mahotsav, special worship programs were held at the Sri Gowri Shankar Temple, near Madikeri on Thursday March 11.
Various ceremonies have been conducted here since yesterday morning. At 7 o’clock in the morning, Ganapathi homa, Mrithunjaya homa and Sankalpa pooja was conducted. There was a special pooja for Lord Shiva for the welfare of the whole world at 9 a.m.
This was followed by a grand procession from the village houses. Devotional processions marched from the villages to temples along with the charming Chande Mela. Particularly the large number of villagers participated in the procession to contribute their offerings to the God.
At 12.30 p.m., the great ‘Mangalarati’ took place followed by ‘Anna Prasadam’ to the devotees. Devotional cultural programs were held as part of the Shivaratri Vigil from 6 pm. Rudrabhishekam was performed at 8 p.m. A large number of devotees participated in the worship of Lord Shiva amidst covid protocols.
A nairmalya pooja, Navakalasha pooja and Rudrabhishekam were held on the morning of Friday March 12.
Religious lecture was followed by the famous orator Chaitra Kundapur.
