Madikeri: Citing failure in administration and also corruption charges against cabinet colleagues, BJP Leader and Opposition Leader Jagadish Shettar has sought resignation from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Playing up the episode of former chief minister and senior Congress leader S M Krishna breaking ties with the Congress party, Shettar said that the incident holds mirror to the sorry state of affairs within the Congress and that it will herald the downfall of the Congress in the state.
Addressing the reporters on Sunday in Madikeri on sidelines of MLA K G Bopaiah’s daughter’s weddings, Shettar said that a sincere and straight-forward leader like Krishna had left the Congress party due to the corrupt approach and poor administration of the state government. He said that even senior leader like B Janardhan Poojary too has been very vocal about the misdeeds of the Congress party.
“Even when the state is facing acute drought, the state government seems to have no concern for the farmers. The Congress leaders in the state are busy criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi rathr than acting on burning issues,” he said adding that Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi who is facing corruption charges has been making statements suggestive that all minister in Siddaramaiah cabinet are corrupt.
“There is no doubt that Jarkiholi must step down, but keeping all the goof ups of the government in mind, even Siddaramaiah must step down,” he said.
