Madikeri: Keeping forth a demand to complete the works on Hi-tech market project at the earliest, City Municipal Council and SDPI member K G Peter staged a stir outside the Council premises.
Over the last three years, the project of Rs 350 cr has been progressing at snail’s pace due to which the entire trading community has been put to trouble.
When Peter started his ‘one man protest’, Municipal Commissioner Shubha held a talk with him and said that the market project will be completed in next three months. Meanwhile, several members of the Council too tried to convince Peter to withdraw the protest. However, with the assurance from the Municipal Commissioner Peter withdrew the protest.
Later speaking to the reporters, Peter said that so far Rs 1.40 lac has been handed over to the contractor. He said that he would start the protest again if the work does not see progress.
