Kodagu: The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC from November 7 to 11 in wake of the controversial Tipu Jayanthi celebration and the bundh called for by the Tipu Jayanthi Virodhi Horata Samiti on November 10.
The State government has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi on November 10 and the decision has evoked sharp criticism in Kodagu specifically.
In order to avert untoward incidents, Deputy Commissioner Vincent Richard D’Souza said that the prohibitory orders will be in place from 4 pm on November 7 to 8 am on November 11. The order exempts government programmes and weddings, while all other public and political functions, meetings, rallies, protests etc have been banned during the said period.
