Well water poisoning: Villagers demand action against culprit

Madikeri: The Biligeri villagers staged a protest in front of the rural police station demanding action against the individuals responsible for poisoning well water on April 4.

Dead crabs and fish were seen floating in the well at Bakkabane of Biligeri Gram Panchayat after reports of poisoning well water emerged. The strong odour around well, substantiated the allegations.

Villagers decided to take a religious vow in a nearby temple to trace the guilty. In the meantime, villager Manjunatha, confessed of his wrong doing and requested the villagers not to proceed with the vow.

It is gathered that police delayed registering the complaint on the day of the incident, April 3, which enraged the villagers.

Seeking strong punishment against the wrongdoer who poisoned the well owned by Biligeri GP, villagers protested in front of local police station.
