Mysuru: “I have drawn a line between personal and public life and I do not cross that nor anyone else has the right to do so”, remarked Maharaja Yaduveer Chamaraja Wadiyar, taking exception to the statements appearing in the media over wife Trishika’s pregnancy.
Talking to media persons after taking part in an interaction programme with government school children in Kumabarakoppalu, Yaduveer talked tough for once on rumours appearing in media over wife Trishika Wadiyar’s pregnancy. Refusing to get into details on the issue, Yaduveer thanked all the people who wished the couple good.
Neither ready to accept or deny wife Trishika’s pregnancy, Yaduveer preferred to stay out of media glare and further discussion on the issue.
The link between the Alamelamma’s curse and Princely Wadiyar family, that Wadiyar’s will not have children might have forced the Maharaja to take a different stance. It may be recalled that Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar and Pramoda Devi too did not have children and the latter adopted Yaduveer after the death of her husband.
Yaduveer with western educational background might have preferred to stay clear of superstitious beliefs associated with princess bearing children in Wadiyar clan.
