Mysuru: A man was apprehended by vigilant villagers shortly after he allegedly robbed a woman of her gold chain in Hosavaranchi village, Hunsur, on Tuesday. Kemparaju, a resident of HD Kote, was detained by the locals after he reportedly stole 35 grams of gold from Jyothi while she was working in the field.

According to the Hunsur police, Kemparaju approached Jyothi under the guise of selling ice cream. He then threatened her with a boulder before forcibly taking the gold chain. Jyothi quickly alerted nearby passers-by, leading to the robber’s capture. Despite this incident, the police confirmed that Kemparaju had no prior criminal record.

Authorities have urged women in rural areas to avoid traveling alone and be cautious of strangers to prevent similar incidents.
