Man-eater tiger killed in shoot-at-sight operation

Mysuru: Forest officials managed to trap the man-eater tiger that had killed three persons from Nanjanadeva Betta forest region in Hediyala village and kill it. The tiger, a few days ago, had killed several domestic animals and also three people in Hadanur village in HD Kote taluk. It had also attacked a farmer. Hence the villagers had demanded the forest department to have it killed.
After the government issued shoot-at-sight orders to kill the tiger the officials launched a massive operation. Hundreds of STF staff, with the help of elephants, were in search of the cat from last three days.

On Thursday, when the forest officials were trying to trap the tiger by luring it with a calf, the tiger, which was hiding inside the bush suddenly attacked them. Forest officials, who had no other option opened fire at the tiger killing it on the spot.

The villagers who were living in fear now expressed relief.
