Mysuru: A rape-accused was hospitalised after attempting to die by suicide at Haropura Village in Nanjanagudu Taluk on Tuesday December 7.
It is said that Pradeep (26) , the accused running a Kirana shop in the village allegedly raped the victim at his house after sending his wife to Delivery. The victim is his wife’s sister’s elder daughter aged 14 years.
The accused also took photographs of the victim and him together and threatened her that he would put up the pictures on social media if she doesn’t cooperate. When the minor girl became pregnant he took her to a laboratory for abortion. That is when the lab personnel informed the police.
Soon Pradeep consumed poison and was shifted to KR hospital, Mysuru in a critical condition. Bilikere police have registered a case under POCSO Act and are investigating.
