Hunsur: A 39-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and two young daughters before dying by suicide at his residence in New Maruthi Layout, Hunsur, in a shocking incident that came to light on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Harish (39), his wife Nishchita (37), and their daughters Naksha (14) and Raksha (8).
Harish, son of Ratnapuri Satyappa, was a director of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Yuva Pade and worked in the vehicle recovery wing of an insurance company.
Police suspect murder followed by suicide
Confirming the incident, Mysuru Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi said preliminary investigations indicate that Harish allegedly killed his wife and daughters before dying by suicide by hanging inside the house.
Police suspect the three victims may have been suffocated using adhesive pain-relief patches or belladonna plaster placed over their faces. However, officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.
Financial stress mentioned in suicide note
According to police, Harish had sent his mother to her parental home three days before the incident. The family was alone in the house when the tragedy occurred.
Investigators recovered a suicide note from the residence, which reportedly states that Harish had been struggling with severe personal and financial difficulties. The note mentions heavy financial losses and claims that the family’s only house had been mortgaged.
Police are examining whether these circumstances led to the incident.
Investigation underway
Hunsur Town Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and forensic experts are examining the residence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi also visited the scene to oversee the investigation.
Authorities said further details will emerge after the completion of the post-mortem examination and forensic reports.
