After Shah, CM goofs up, says vote cast for Modi is like vote cast for me!

Mandya: The election campaigning in Karnataka has almost reached its climax with bigwigs of both Congress and BJP hitting the campaign trail in a bid to outdo the other. However, faux passes committed by these leaders, while pitching for their party can do more of good to the opponent party.

Last month BJP National president Amit Shah had a ‘foot in the mouth’ moment when he termed the party’s chief ministerial candidate as ‘most corrupt’ (obviously he didn’t mean too…) at an election rally in the southern state.

Shah however, can seek some solace from state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who committed a faux pass claiming that each vote cast for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming election was like casting vote for him.

“If road work has happened, concrete roads, drainage, drinking water facilities are there, if houses have been constructed, it is all because of Narendra Modi and our government,” Siddaramaiah said.

The incident took place when Siddaramaiah was campaigning for party candidate Narendra Swamy at Malavalli in Mandya on Tuesday. On realising the error he had committed, thanks to the fellow partymen sharing the stage with him, Siddaramaiah, who is known for his witty nature stated that “Narendra is important. Here he is Swamy, he (PM) Modi is there for Gujarat. Narendra Modi is false, Narendra Swamy is true.”

However the comeback did not last long as Siddaramaiah once more pitched for Modi instead of Swamy.

“Every one should understand that ever single vote cast for Narendra Modi, is like casting a vote for me….” he said before correcting himself.

This gaffe by the Chief Minister has come amid a war of words between him and PM Modi while campaigning.
