Mandya: A tensed situation emerged as the SUV in which Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was travelling, caught fire in Pihalli village in the Srirangapatna taluk on Wednesday, April 10 night at around 11.30 PM.
HDK was on his way to a private hotel near the KRS dam, in the Range Rover SUV, after completing the day’s campaign.
The police personnel who saw smoke emerging from the vehicle stopped the SUV and sent the CM in another car.
Experts rushed from Bengaluru to find out the exact cause of the fire. They suspect that an engine oil leak caused the fire.
