Bharathinagara: The sugarcane farmers protested by locking the Chamsugar factory demanding for their balance payment towards sugarcane sale to Chamsugar.
The farmers gathered in front of the sugar factory in the afternoon and staged protest against the factory administration.
The farmers had supplied the sugarcane to Chamsugars six months ago but the sugar factory administration was not paying them the balance amount. Whenever they came to the factory to collect their dues the officers were inaccessible, said the farmers.
Minister DC Thammanna who was also the MLA of the area, the district in-charge minister, district administration or the taluk administration has not bothered to help the farmers, leaving them running from pillar to post. This shows the biased attitude of the government and its officers towards the farmers, said the furious farmers.
If the same condition continues for some more time they would be forced to commit suicide and the sugar factory, local minister and local officers would be responsible for their death warned the farmers, they said adding that they have decided to continue the stir till their dues are cleared.
The protest was led by Thalagavadi Anand, Muttanahalli Suresh and other leaders.
