Mandya: Popular actor and thinker Prakash Rai/Raj refused to be branded as the supporter of any political party on April 21.
Unleashing his resentment at the working of party politics in India, Raj said, “I don’t trust any political party. Just because I criticise the BJP, please don’t believe that I support the Congress, the Janata Dal (S) or the communist parties.”
Talking at the “#JustAsking” media dialogue programme held at the Press Club here, he said, “Today I am revealing the true nature of BJP. Tomorrow I am ready to criticise any wrong-doing by any other party.”
He again clarified his stand on his belief in Hinduisim saying, “I do not advocate for any religion. I am a realist. I never oppose anyone for being a Hindu. I strongly oppose forceful imposition of tenets of any religion on the unwilling. I am not against Hindu religion. Hinduism is a tolerant religion-it is broad and unique. At the same time, we must realise that no religion preaches killing others.”
On his style of oration and personal convictions he claimed, “I don’t fear anyone. My talk is frank, straight forward and on point. I speak my mind. To accept or neglect what I speak, is up to the people.”
Elaborating on the aims and objectives of “#JustAsking” campaign, he said, “I started the campaign to create awareness among people. It will give voice to people. I am trying to understand the local problems faced by people by visiting every district in the state.”
Coming down heavily on the BJP, the actor alleged that the entire nation would be in grave danger if BJP came to power in Karnataka as well. He appealed to the voters that they should work for keeping BJP away from power as it was a “growing threat” to India.
Talking on the issue of protection of cows, Raj said, “I too am a ‘Gau Rakshak,’ and I have 48 domestic breed cows. I learnt about the value of life from them. I am against killing of any animal, not just cows.”
