Mysore: As police search for the missing Tahsildar of K R Pet Taluk Mahesh Chandra in Mandya district, the preliminary evidence suggests that he might have been abducted.

The incident came to light only on the morning of Friday, August 3, when Mahesh’s car was found on the Hassan-Mysuru Highway near Chikkawaddara Gudi village.

Mahesh was transferred to K R Pet Taluk in Mandya from K R Nagar Taluk in Mysuru on July 25. However, he chose to continue his stay at the rented house in K R Nagar. Everyday he used to commute to work in his Maruti Omni car (KA 41 Z 1581).

Police suspect that Mahesh might have been abducted when he was returning home after holding a public meeting at the K R Pet. The handbrake of the car was engaged and Mahesh’s personal effects, shirt buttons and shoes were found strewn on the road. Sources said there were drag marks on the ground.

On receiving the information about an abandoned car, Salilgrama Police visited the spot and started the investigation. On knowing that the car belonged to a public servant, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh and Additional SP Arunanshi Giri visited the crime spot.

The forensic team is collecting evidence. Police have launched a massive operation to trace the whereabouts of the Tahsildar.
