Mandya: Farmers in Mandya are in distress as the Government and the District Administration have not opened paddy and ragi procurement centres in the wake of crop failure due to heavy rains.

Along with the loss of rain, the remaining crop has to be harvested and sold to the brokers at the required price. In all, 20 per cent of the harvesting has been completed due to the delay in opening the procurement centre. The farmers are currently in distress as the entire harvesting will be over in December.

As the harvested paddy and ragi are also over, they are now also facing difficulty to procure.
