Mandya: Mandya District Raitha Hitarakshana Samithi has demanded that the 81st annual shareholders’ online meeting of Mysugar Factory for the year 2014-15 should be cancelled by the Principal Secretary and Managing Director of the Department and an oral and physical meeting should be held.
A meeting of leaders of various organisations was held under the leadership of the Samiti at the Pravasai Mandira in the City.
Former MLC K. T. Srikantegowda said, “We had opposed it last year when an online meeting was called during the Covid-19 pandemic. There is no corona this year. Therefore, it has been decided that an oral, ans physical meeting should be convened,” he said.
The invitation for the annual information book for the meeting, scheduled for November 3, has not reached 95 per cent of the shareholders. The complete information is not printed in the invitation book. However, it has been printed in English. The physical meeting should be held in the premises of Mysugar factory in Mandya. He demanded that a meeting be convened with a 7-year-old audit report.
The online meeting now scheduled should be postponed immediately. The matter has been brought to the notice of the Sugar myinister and the Managing Director of the factory. He warned that if a party holds an online meeting, a protest will be held in the company premises itself. There are some loopholes in running a full-fledged sugar factory. They should be eliminated. There is no capacity to crush the existing sugarcane. The MD has already requested the Government to install a 10-15 MW turbine as an alternative.
The Government should implement it. The Sugarcane Department should benefit the farmers by doing effective work. He also demanded that the factory should rectify the technical fault.
