Mandya: The office-bearers of Doddaankanahalli and Madappanakoppal Village Development Committee staged a protest in front of the Taluk Panchayat office demanding immediate eviction of Government land encroached under Doddaankanahalli Village Police Station limits under Hootagere Gram Panchayat limits in the Taluk.

The activists gathered near the Taluk Office in the Town and raised slogans against the local authorities. They also lashed out at the authorities for not taking any action despite several complaints to the authorities to clear the encroached land.

Few people from the Village have also illegally encroached upon the shop and appealed to the EO and PDO in this regard but no action has been taken. They alleged that the officials were in connivance with the illegal encroachers.

A complaint has also been lodged with the Kestur Police Station in this regard after some persons assaulted them while inspecting the site where the work was going on and stopping it. The protesters objected to the lack of action so far and demanded that the encroachments be removed immediately and used for public works. They warned of a protest along with the villagers in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office if it was not cleared within a week.
