Bengaluru: A soldier from Mandya district martyred in the Pulwama IED attack, which claimed the lives of 42 soldiers, on Thursday evening.
According to the police, Guru H, a resident of Gudigere colony in KM Doddi died in the attack. He had married 10 months ago. Guru, 33 was in the village till February 10. “He left from Mandya to Kashmir on Sunday,” informed sources quoting his family members.
According to the police, Guru married Kalavati, daughter of his maternal uncle.
Speaking to the reporters, Kalavati informed that she spoke to Guru on Thursday at about 11 am. “But as I was busy with my house works, I was not able to talk much. After the news of the attack came, I called him several times. He didn’t pick up,” she said reporters.
Kalavati who is shocked by the news of her husband’s death was inconsolable. Senior authorities and her family members have rushed to her home to console her. The mortal remains of the soldier is expected to arrive at Mandya on Saturday.
