Mandya: Former Mandya MLA Ramya re-appreared in the district, this week, after being away from politics for a few months after she lost the Lok Sabha polls. The development has triggered speculation that the actress turned politician would use this issue to network with the people of the constituency which is weakened due to anti-party activities. She visited the houses of deceased farmers families and offered financial help here on Tuesday.
Her visit to the district will boost congress party at the district level. Even KPCC has decided to give her some post or a Vidhana Parishad membership ticket.
She did not give any information to police, officials or the party workers before visiting the kin of the diseased farmers. She visited the house of Mahesh in Panakanahalli and offered Rs 50,000 as compensation. She also noted down the property details and the amount of loan taken. For more than 2 hours she spent in the houses of farmers including having a meal in the village.
When the farmers decided to inform media about her visit, she restrained them from publicizing her visit.
The opposition is worried after the young actor turned politician has again stepped into the district. What was surprising was that even though she had sustained an injury on her left foot and was advised three months rest by doctors she toured the district and it is speculated that it might be to seek sympathy from the people of constituency and it might also be a political gimmick.
She stayed away from Mandya after losing to JD(S) candidate C.S. Puttaraju by 5, 518 votes in Lok Sabha elections held last year.
