Mandya: Recently Superstar Akshay Kumar was in news for donating a part of his earnings for welfare of soldiers, but here in Mandya a fourth standard kid has set an example by donating his prize money for the sake of the soldiers.
R Chinmay is all of ten, but has done a deed that is beyond the imagination of many grown up individuals.
Son of H Raju and N S Vijayalakshmi, hailing from Doddegowdanakoppalu of Malavalli taluk here and settled in Athani Belagavi had won Rs 10,000 in Prathibha Puraskar. Without any second thought, the boy donated the entire amount for Soldier’s Welfare Fund.
Chinmay is the fourth standard student of KLE Institution, Athani in Belagavi.
He had participated in the 2016-17 competitions conducted by Women and Child Welfare Department and bagged the district-level award. On winning the prize, he had expressed his wish to do something for the soldiers and as per his wishes his parents forwarded the money to the soldiers’ fund. He has also written about the same to the CM. Chinmay’s father is a high school teacher in Athani, who says that he himself has a loan of Rs four lakhs, but when his son expressed his desire to help the soldiers, he readily agreed understanding that his son’s love for the Indian Army and respect for soldiers was more important than clearing the debts.
“Rs 10,000 could not have repaid my loan amount anyway. But, when that amount goes to a noble cause like this one, it will be of great help,” said Raju.
