Bharathinagara: The farmers restrained the sugar factory workers of Chamundeshwari sugars Ltd here for not settling their dues of sugarcane supplied to the factory.

The farmers stopped the factory workers at the main entrance round the clock demanding the settlement of sugarcane dues of Rs 35 Crore.

The farmers have been demanding their dues and protesting for a long time now. But when the factory management did not pay any heed to their protests, the farmers were agitated and decided to stop hundreds of factory workers from entering the premises until their payment was settled.

The sugar factory was not settling their dues even after seven months of supplying sugarcane. This has pushed the farmers into debt. Whenever they visited the factory for their payment, they were sent back with inappropriate answers.

Whenever the farmers staged protests, the factory would promise them full settlement and ask for some more time to settle the dues. Now even after seven months, the farmers were still waiting for their payment.

The farmers were furious as they had taken loans and grown the sugarcane crop for the sugar factory and now the management was not taking any steps to settle their dues.
