Mandya: As the support is pouring in from the citizens of this country towards those CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) jawans, who were martyred in the Pulwama tragedy on Thursday, February 14, wife of actor-politician Late Ambareesh, Sumalatha Ambareesh has announced of donating half-an-acre land for martyr H Guru’s family in the district, here on Saturday, February 16.

Speaking to one of the regional media, Sumalatha said, “Donating a piece of land is not a big deal. In fact it is nothing in front of the supreme sacrifice that our jawans do to protect our country. It is a minute contribution from my end”.

“I’ve spoken to Ambareesh’s brother Madan and producer Rockline Venkatesh and also had a discussion with my son Abhishek. We all came to common terms and took this decision,” she said.

She also said, “If Ambareesh was alive, he would have gone out of his way to support martyr Guru’s family”.

She has made it clear that the land that is now donated is having ample water resources and that the family can decide on building a memorial in the name of martyr Guru or use it for agriculture purpose.

Sumalatha expressed her grief and said, “I’m currently in Malaysia, and when I came to know that Guru has laid down his life for the country, I was shocked and before I could take the decision the government had already taken one in terms of a piece of land for his last rites. I was deeply moved when I heard that the family didn’t even own a small piece of land”.

“I’m honoured to have donated a piece of land to a martyr who has sacrificed his life for his motherland”, she added.
