Mandya: Actress-turned-politician Sumalatha Ambareesh recently met state election commission officers and sought their protection.
In her complaint to the commission, she alleged that she is being intimidated and that her phone is being tapped. “I have been put under surveillance by the government. I am being threatened against visiting the villages of the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency to seek votes. So, the commission must intervene,” she said.
She also informed that in Mandya, the JDS is misusing the administrative machinery to defeat her. “There is an urgent need to announce the hypersensitivity of the constituency and send in additional central forces,” she urged.
Referring to the recent cable cutting incident across the constituency, she alleged that the state government is trying to block her campaign by various means.
It can be recalled that in Mandya, Sumalatha, wife of the late former state and Union minister ‘Rebel Star’ M H Ambareesh has locked horns with Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
