Mandya: Member of Parliament Sumalatha Ambareesh, who won a heated political battle with Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son, from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, has opened an office in the constituency.
From now on Sumalatha will be catering to the needs of the people of her constituency at her office which is located in the district Deputy Commissioner’s office building.
Sumalatha chose this room as her office because it is the same room where her late husband, actor-turned-politician M H Ambareesh used to work when he was the MP and state minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.
Speaking to the media she said, “This is the very office where Ambareesh used to sit. It is a pleasure for me to be able to work out of the same office. I decided to inaugurate the office today as it is an auspicious day.”
Meanwhile, she refrained from commenting on the Vokkaliga community’s protest against the arrest of former minister and Congress leader D K Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate.
