Mandya: Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and the JDS-Congress alliance candidate from Mandya, had held a massive rally in the constituency on Monday, March 25, where around 2 lakh people gathered for his nomination filing.
Following the rally, three separate FIRs were filed against him in the Mandya West Police Station, for violating the election model code of conduct.
The first FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by the flying squad of the election commission, for stamping and spoiling flower beds, flowering plants, fountains, electrical connections and lawns in the Cauvery Vana. The under-construction compound wall and poles in the premises were pulled out, which led to its collapse and the damage is estimated to be around Rs.8 lakhs.
The second FIR was filed for using party poppers which spread green and white colour papers at Sanjay Circle without permission.
Third FIR was registered against the actor-turned-politician for blocking the Bengaluru-Mysore Highway from 2.30 PM to 4 PM and causing the obstruction of traffic, thereby inconveniencing the general public.
