Maneka expresses concern over increasing child abuse cases

Mysuru: Union Women and Child Welfare Department Minister Maneka Gandhi gave startling facts on the child sexual abuse cases and expressed sadness over 81 online complaints registered during last two weeks.

Maneka not confident about Varun as much as elephant Sidda-1Taking part in the golden jubilee celebrations of JSS Arts and Science College, the minister said, POCSO e-box helpline was started by her ministry to facilitate women and children to lodge complaints of abuse.

Under the new feature, the ministry is making efforts to comfort those at the receiving end by maintaining confidentiality regarding the name and whereabouts of the complainants, she revealed.

She rued over the number of complaints which stood at 81 in two weeks’ time.

Maneka said, boys and girls studying in colleges need to respect each other and at the end she emphasised on internalising good behaviour.
